Vacant Position: Two-year postdoctoral Research Associate in China and Globalisation (broadly conceived) commencing September 2020.

The successful applicant will be based in the Lee Kai Hung Postdoctoral College at MCI, and work independently under the supervision of the MCI director. S/he will have a completed PhD in the humanities or social sciences, and possess a demonstrable ability to produce world-class research. While applications from across China studies are welcome, slight preference will be given to research that can contribute to ongoing MCI research projects on 1) Anglo-Chinese contacts and mutual attitudes, and 2) the political psychology of cross-Strait relations.
The Manchester China Institute seeks to improve mutual understanding in UK-China relations. It supports a vibrant China studies research community at the global top-30 University of Manchester, which boasts the largest Chinese student population of any university in Europe. Manchester is also home to the second largest Chinese community in the UK.
