Applications are invited for appointment as Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences, from as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.
 
The Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences was established in 2001 with a mission to promote innovative, cross-disciplinary scholarship with a focus on China and Asia. Further information about the Institute can be obtained at www.ihss.hku.hk.
 
The appointee is expected to conduct research on topics related to the research agenda of the Institute, to teach relevant courses, and to train graduate students. He/She is expected to participate in, and provide leadership to, the development of the Institute’s research and outreach program(s), including competitive grant applications. He/She could also be asked to share some of the administrative responsibilities of the Director of the Institute such as drawing up development plans and activity reports, and working with partner institutions
across the globe.
 
A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave and medical benefits.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
