The Asia Institute promotes study of the rich languages, intellectual, cultural, social, political and religious traditions of Asia and the Islamic world, and their contemporary manifestations. The Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies (CCCS) is a major initiative of the University of Melbourne, located within the Asia Institute. The Centre plays a vital role in promoting an Australian approach in the study of contemporary China, and serves as a significant source of research–based information on China, Chinese societies and Chinese economies in the 21st century. The Chinese Studies Program is one of six programs offered by the Asia Institute.
Located in the Asia Institute’s Chinese Studies Program, the Senior Lecturer in Chinese Studies will be affiliated with the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies (CCCS). The Senior Lecturer will have the responsibility of undertaking teaching for Chinese Studies at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He/she will supervise, where appropriate, theses in the honours, postgraduate diploma, coursework masters, and research higher degree programs.
The successful applicant will be a committed and engaging teacher and researcher in Chinese Studies in particular the discipline of Chinese social sciences whose versatility will complement and help develop the discipline’s strengths in related activities at the University of Melbourne. The candidate will be expected to foster links with external networks/partners nationally and internationally and take on administrative tasks associated with the appointment.
Salary: $116,901 – $134,792 p.a.plus 17% superannuation。
