This two-day symposium forms part of the research project PRIN 2022PXTYCL “M.A.R.E.: Manuscripts and Books from Asia Reaching Europe. A semantically enhanced digital library mapping Asian books circulation along the Silk Maritime Routes”, coordinated by the University of Enna “Kore” in collaboration with the University of Pisa and the University of Salerno. The project is funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU (Mission 4, Component 1, CUP J53D23013450008).
The symposium brings together national and international scholars responsible for major digital projects devoted to databases primarily in Chinese and Latin, to the online dissemination of sources relating to interactions between China and Europe, as well as specialists in OCR technologies.

The initiative seeks to foster collaboration between technological innovation in computer science and historical–philological research in the humanities, opening a broader reflection on future challenges, such as the creation of interconnected digital hubs, and on the potential developments in the field of Chinese Studies.
