This collective monograph focuses on Asian experiences with truths, tensions, and technologies. We invite contributions that explore these multifaceted experiences, using a variety of theoretical, methodological, and disciplinary approaches, with global engagements being a welcome perspective.

Some of the questions we encourage contributors to engage with are:
Truths: In a post-truth era where fake news is proliferating, how are truths produced, contested, and circulated in Asia and beyond? How do they manifest in different societal contexts?
Tensions: How do tensions unfold within Asia? How can they be mitigated or reduced?
Technologies: How do technologies bring certain truths to the fore and obscure others? What are the implications?

The volume follows up on the 19th Annual Conference on Asian Studies (acas.upol.cz) organized by the Department of Asian Studies at Palacký University Olomouc; however, it is open to any thematically relevant submission. We are interested in receiving original research that has not been previously published and is not currently being reviewed elsewhere.

The process consists of the following main steps:
Submission of an extended abstract in English (700–1,000 words) e-mailed to olas@upol.cz as a PDF file by April 30, 2026. The submission should include: (1) title, (2) author(s), (3) affiliation, (4) e-mail address, (5) five keywords, (6) extended abstract, (7) a short statement describing which of the three themes (truths, tensions, technologies) the contribution addresses. Notifications about the abstract’s acceptance status will be sent by May 15, 2026.
Submission of an anonymized full chapter (10–11,000 words, incl. references, tables, etc. in the word count) by August 31, 2026. The texts will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process by at least two reviewers. We estimate that we will announce the decisions for all chapters by the end of 2026.
Further work on the chapter together with the editors. It will be the authors’ responsibility to have their text proofread by an English language expert. The expected publication date is fall 2027.

Any questions can be addressed to olas@upol.cz.
We are looking forward to your submissions!
