Dr. Andrej Fech from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Hong Kong Baptist University invites applications for the position of PhD candidate with an interest in Daoism, Chinese intellectual history and commentarial tradition. The position is associated with the project “The Wenzi in Light of the Commentaries by Xu Lingfu and Du Daojian”, funded by a General Research Fund (GRF) grant (https://scholars.hkbu.edu.hk/en/projects/the-wenzi-in-light-of-the-commentaries-by-xu-lingfu-and-du-daojia/). The candidate will conduct research on Du Daojian’s commentary.
The candidate is expected to have Master’s and undergraduate degrees in Chinese studies or philosophy, good understanding of Daoist thought and excellent knowledge of English and modern and classical Chinese.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive scholarship for the entire duration of the studies. The position is to be filled by September 1st, 2026.
