The Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology invites applications for a W1 Junior Professorship for State and Society in China at the Institute for Middle Eastern and East Asian Languages and Civilizations to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of three years. Depending on successful evaluation the appointment will be extended for another three years.
The successful candidate is expected to represent the field adequately in teaching and research, teach in all degree programmes in which the discipline of sinology is involved, develop e-learning tools in ‘Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language’, and participate in the research activities of the International Consortium for Research in the Humanities ‘Fate, Freedom and Prognostication’ (www.ikgf.fau.de). Candidates must have very good knowledge of both modern and classical Chinese, as well as proven research expertise in the political history and history of ideas of imperial and/or modern China. The willingness to participate actively in relevant research networks at FAU is expected.
Prerequisites for the position are a university degree, university level teaching experience and a doctoral degree.
