The Amsterdam School of Culture and History of the Faculty of Humanities is looking for a postdoctoral researcher in the Cultural History of China (Sinology) as part of the project The Chinese Impact: Images and Ideas of China in the Dutch Golden Age (NWO-Vidi). This project explores the mutual perceptions that resulted from the cultural exchange between China and the Low Countries (Northern and Southern Netherlands) in the seventeenth century.

ASCH is one of the six research schools of the Amsterdam Institute for Humanities Research (AIHR). Established in 2014, ASCH brings together more than 300 academics, who participate in ca. 35 research groups. The Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies is pleased to offer the An Wang Postdoctoral Fellowship to support research in Chinese Studies. Well-designed projects at any stage, from initial research to revision for publication, are welcome.

Research topics can cover any period of Chinese history or contemporary China and involve any academic discipline. Applicants in pre-modern humanities are encouraged to apply, as are applicants in contemporary social sciences. Priority will be given to those candidates who have had no previous postdoctoral fellowships.

Candidates must be able to provide evidence of successful completion of their PhD degree by June of the year of appointment and may not be more than five years beyond receipt of the PhD. Harvard University doctoral degree recipients are not eligible for this fellowship. The EUAP now seeks outstanding applicants for a Research Assistant Professorship, which is created and funded as part of an overall strategy to strengthen research and teaching in current European Union affairs. The European Union Academic Programme Hong Kong (EUAP) is inviting applications for Visiting Scholarships at the postdoc level for research/teaching sojourns of four months duration (one semester) at EUAP institutions in Hong Kong (fall/winter term 2013, 2014, 2015).
